How To: MTurk Part 2 - Getting Paid

OK, so we covered the Covered the Basics to Turking in Part 1 Let's get onto the important part about how to use the money you are earning.

Important Note: Until you have been actively Turking for 10 days, you will not be able to cash out. It doesn't have to be 10 days in a row, but you have to have been on for at least 10 days.

Now we need to head over to Amazon Payments to straighten out our options. Luckily you can get there right from Mechanical Turk:

So you can see from the screenshot above that we are on the "Your Account TAB" (RED Circle)inside of mechanical Turk. We are also on the Account setting's (RED Underline) page directly under the "Your Account TAB"

The GREEN Box is the option we are looking for, It's pretty self explanatory.

When you click on it it will ask you to log into Amazon Payments. Just use The Same Username and Password you have setup for Mechanical Turk.


Amazon Payments is setup similar to Mechanical Turk, it Has TAB'S and a bunch of different options. This screen will cover where you need to go next:

Red Circle: Shows that we are currently on the "Your Account TAB"

Red Square: Shows that we are on the "Withdraw Funds" Page

Yellow Square: Shows your current Available Balance (Everything that has already been approved)

Green Square: Choose this Option if you want to transfer Money to your Bank Account (You do need to click on the Button "Add bank account" and setup which account you want to transfer money to before they will transfer it to you. (I would do early on because it can take a few days to get everything setup with your bank)

Purple Box: Choose this Option if you would rather just transfer the money to an Amazon Gift Card.

Important Note: I am not sure why exactly you would transfer it to a gift card. Amazon has it setup already that when you go to buy something from Amazon.com it will allow you to use your "Available Balance" (Yellow Square) and that way you don't even need a gift card. Just Check out like normal and your "Available Balance" will be one of the payment options listed.

 Blue Circle/Square: Pretty self explanatory.

The only thing I will reiterate is that it would be smart to setup your Bank account in your 10 day waiting period, so that you can use your money as soon as it's available to you.

Setting up the Bank Account is straightforward, just follow the instructions. It will be EXTREMELY easy if you can already use your bank's website to check your account balances etc. I was unable to "Automatically Link" my Account, so instead I had to wait a few days for Amazon to make 2 small deposit's into my checking account, so I could verify with Amazon that I had access to said Account.

Now, go spend the money that you have made and enjoy Mechanical Turk!

**As for me I'm currently using my earnings to feed my board game addiction without tearing up our families budget! There are a few post's that show my earnings for 10 days or so worth of work. The money is out there so please go get it!
